You've purchased a roadworthy bicycle and would like to get into Social and/or Competitive Cycling Sport and don't know where to find the club or how to join the club? Not sure if you will be any good at the sport? "You don't have to be a Lance Armstrong to start racing, He didn't start out that good either" You've taken the first step by logging onto the Latrobe City Cycling Club website and looking at Joining The Club page. How To Find The Club Finding the club is easy; just goto the club race calendar or log into Contact Us for club executive and support staff details and contact a member of those groups. How To Join Joining the club is easy also; all you have to do is turn up to a club organised training ride, race meeting or to a monthly club meeting. Club Membership & New Licence Applications should be done online Click here There is an events calendar showing events dates, times and venue as well as club meeting dates, times and venue on this website. Club Membership fees are: Seniors $25, Juniors $15, Family $40, Social $15. All new junior members joining the club will get free club membership for the first year. All competitive members must obtain a current Cycling Australia racing licence; the club arranges this for the members. You must be a member of cycling club to obtain such a racing licence. There are several types of licenses available. MEMBERSHIP TYPES There are numerous competitive and non competitive licences, plus introductory licences for those new to cycling, which cover all ages, interests and abilities. All licences are purchased through a club. Full Competitive Licences Open Membership A Full Membership enables participation in cycling competition conducted under the auspices of Cycling Australia or any of its affiliated State Federations and affiliated clubs and provides eligibility to compete in Australian Championships, represent Australia or apply for an International Licence. Introductory Competitive Licences Club Licences Club licences are restricted to participation in club-only events conducted by the member’s respective club for only members of that club. 3 Ride Permits The 3 Ride Permit is valid for 3 races (in addition to applicable race entry fee) within a period of 3 months in that calendar year. Licence Upgrade Opportunity: If rider subsequently upgrades to a full racing licence, the cost of a 3-ride permit will be credited against full licence fee. A 3-ride permit: Ø Provides insurance benefits for the duration of the 3 events only. Ø Is valid for Club Events only. (Not valid for Open, State or National Championship events) Day Permits The Day Licence is a cheaper alternative to the 3 ride permit but is only a single race permit. Restrictions apply: (No upgrade provision as per 3-ride permit above) Ø Is a temporary racing licence valid for one club event only (Not valid for Open, State or National C'ships events) Ø Provides insurance benefits for the duration of the event only ‘KIDZ’ Licence CSV, in conjunction with the ACF, have introduced a $10 KIDZ licence aimed at attracting new junior members into cycling without the financial burden. For J13 age riders and below, it is for use in club events only and is a great way to get young kids into cycling. Use the normal Membership form to complete application – tick KIDZ. VIP Junior & Women Licences: This is a complimentary (free) full membership offered to potentially talented young junior riders (for boys J19 and below), and for Women (under the age 30). The amount of licences issued is restricted each year. Please contact CSV. Introductory Licences / Participation Licences ‘RideIt’ - Is a non-competitive membership category licence targeting recreation and social riders as well as being an affordable memberships for administrators, coaches, officials and volunteers. It is $55 for Adults, $40 for Juniors Under 19 and $135 for a family(2 adults & 2 Juniors U/19. J-Cycle is aimed at children ages 8-16, is a skills based program run over 8 sessions by accredited coaches and covers the fundamental safety issues as well as an introduction to the skills required for racing. The standard cost is $45 including all insurance and a discounted introductory membership is also available. SkillCycle is also a skills based program that is aimed towards mature age cyclist eg 25 to 55 year olds, ie. people who have a bike but find the idea of racing daunting, believing that their present skills are not of a high enough standard to compete or ride safely. Structured sessions conducted by accredited coaches and based on ability will provide these people with the skills to ride safely as well as allow them the confidence to perhaps one day enter a lower grade or masters race, or even to get involved as a valuable volunteer in officiating, coaching or marshalling. The membership includes all insurance and a discounted introductory membership is also available.
All Licence costs are in addition to Club Membership fees ($25 Senior $15 Junior)
Club licence can only be used at club level events. It CANNOT be used in any combine or open events. * Licence for non-competing/non-riding 'Ride It' member for use by social/recreational cyclists and also Official, Club Committee members. ** NO FEE applies for transfer if sent with application form at time of 2010 renewal.
