** UPDATE NOTE!! Those members listed below for Duty Officer and Corner Marshal rolls have been on the race calendar since April 2010. You have had plenty of time to organise someone else if you can't full fill your obligation. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT EMAIL or PHONE TUNKSY SAYING I CAN'T DO DUTY THAT DAY. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND SOMEONE. ** NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS - Below is a list of rostered Duty & Corner Marshals that were on the tailend of the 2010 Race Calendar, covering September & October - It is your duty as a club member to full-fill these rolls or to get someone to fill in for you.
** 2010 -2011 Race Calendar NOW available for viewing in View My Calendar......The Latrobe City CC race committee is calling for volunteers for Race Duty Officers and Corner Marshals for the coming years race events. Check out the club race calendar, then select a day that suits you, send Tunksy wayne_tunks@iprimus.com.au or the club info@latrobecitycc.org.au an email with your selection. (first in gets first preference) If members don't volunteer then you will be allocated a race. (Remember NO SHOW, THEN YOU MAY BE SUSPENDED FROM RACING ANYWHERE UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE YOUR DUTY)
** The Latrobe City CC is in the process of purchasing a number of Track bikes for members to COME & TRY and see if they would like to participate in Track Cycle racing. Members would be able to use the bikes for a short number of weeks (at the track, on Monday evenings from 6.00pm) while they decide if they want to purchase a track bike of their own. The club bikes are not there for members to use on a permanent bases. The clubs runs several major track events during day light saving eg: Seven race omnium series (Jan -Feb 2011), Track Cycling Carnival in February and the Club Track Championships at the end of February into March. There maybe some Gippsland Track Championship to race also.
** As mentioned in the article below the club is introducing a Latrobe City CC Cyclist of the Year Award, based on races from Club through to National events, this includes track racing as well. To see how points will be allocated goto Latest Club News Members will have the responsibility in emailing Tunksy when they have entered a points bearing race and what their result was (Must be verified). If Tunksy has not been informed then point will not be added. This years Criterium series of races at Deca Training will carry higher points ranging from 8 for a win, 6 for 2nd, 5 - 3rd, 4 - 4th, 3 - 5th, 2 - 6th and Duty Officer 3 points. There will be an intermediate sprint for A grade only with points for 1st and 2nd only, 1st - 2pts, 2nd -1pt. RIDERS MUST CLAIM PLACING TO DUTY OFFICER, NO CLAIM NO POINTS. The same points allocation for Hazelwood Pondage series except there will be NO intermediate sprint.

The Latrobe City CC Annual General Meeting at the Morwell Sportsman's Club on Tuesday night saw a couple changes within the Executive committee with Brett Van Berkel taking on the Public Officer's roll as well as being re-elected to the Vice Presidents position. Lynley Keene remains as club Secretary while Jim Timmer-Arends take over as Road Handicapper with Dave Shanahan assisting. Roland Elsdon remain as Treasurer and Darren Spiteri stays as President. Wayne Tunks re-joins the Race Committee and Glenn Schoer joins the race committee and is now a club delegate. All other support committee members remain the same. The coming year of racing will see the introduction of a Latrobe City CC Cyclist of the Year Award based on Club, Combine, Gippsland Championship, State and National Races. Where competitors will be allocated points on a scale of race importance. Example; a National or State title race will carry higher points than a Gippsland title race that in turn will carry higher points than a Club/Gippsland Combine which will carry higher points than a club race. All race entries will carry points also. A perpetual trophy/shield will be presented at the club presentation dinner each June.
** The Latrobe City CC road race at Yinnar on Sunday September 12 has be cancelled in lieu of a LCCC & Wellington CC Combine on the Saturday September 11 starting @ Heyfield out to Glenmaggie returning to Heyfield via Dawson on the Seaton Rd. Racing commences @ 2.00pm

Sundays, August 22 - Victorian Masters Road Championships @ Newstead. Four Latrobe City CC member entered the event. Masters 4 Chris Joustra (current Vic Country Masters 4 Road Champion) Dave Shanahan also masters 4, Jim Timmer-Arends masters 5 and Grub Melnyk master 6. Results: Dave Shanahan MMAS 4 - 10th, Chris Joustra MMAS 4 - DNF (Broken Spoke), Jim Timmer-Arends MMAS 7 - 7th, Grub Melynk MMAS 6 - 8th
Sundays, August 22 - Southern Vets Criteriums @ Casey Fields - Two LCCC members venture down the highway to compete on a bright but chilly morning (Chill factor, bloody cold with a lazy wind right of the snow that went through you rather than around you). Justin Gravett competed in the 50 minute A grade finishing with bunch fighting for 2nd after A lone rider broke away to take the win. Tunksy rode the 50 minute plus one lap E grade race finishing 3rd in a bunch sprint from around 20 riders.
Sundays, August 15 - Southern Vets @ Lang Lang/Yannathan saw six LCCC members race, four in A grade and two in E grade. In the A grade race Jim Timmer-Arends, Mick Krausz & Justin Gravett missed the winning break, however Chris Joustra made it and finished 2nd while in E grade Tunksy found the cross winds too dangerous and withdrew after one lap. Grub Melynk finished with bunch just outside the placing.
