Report on LCCC riders from the Vic Country track titles last weekend

Hi everyone Just a quick Report from the Vic Country track titles
Some excellent results from the titles ,with all Gippsland cycling clubs figuring in the medals
For LCCC Jerome meddled in the 500 TT with a bronze and third fastest time
In the Sprint Jerome qualified 2nd over the flying two hundred and went on to win his two head to head  heats  to make the final .
In the Final Jerome was up against his Shepparton training partner "Jay Castles"  in a quality final that went down to the line, Jay was able to edge Jerome out on the line & into the silver medal position .
Otherwise a great start to the Track season.
Next stop will be the NTJS round 4 in Perth on Dec 10
Talk Then
Cheers Phil

Also competing was Nic Anderson in his first open track championships at under 17 level, unfortunately Nic was up against Jerome and other top country under 17's. His performances were quite good, recording 47:204 for 500m Time Trial 12:20 off winner, 3:31:998 Pursuit Qualifying time 1:05:85 off Fastest Qualifier and Nic went 12:387 in the Sprint Qualifier 5:71 off fastest qualifier. All in all a very good effort by Nic considering the quality of riders he was against.

Fantastic effort by team Latrobe City CC in Melbourne Warrnambool on Saturday, also Charles Howlett finishes 11th overall. Roving race report by Spits; Melb to Warny. 150 km, 2nd feed, Joustra and Fan Gaf in main big bunch, Jous wingeing like a little kid, wants more water! Schoer and Brett CB 5 min down in s group of 12. Sammy lost, maybe picked up a chick, maybe shat his pants, maybe found a bottle of Ricadonna? Nobody knows, into side winds now and race have exploded. 6 bunches on the road! Update Howlett front group, Joustra 10 min down, Gaf 20 min down, Schoer and Brett VB still in small group, Sammy B broken derailleur, in car drinking Ricadonna! Finish Charles Howlett (LCCC - Search2Retain) 11th 00:36 secs down, Chris Joustra 70th, 13.05 down on winner Joel Pearson. Danny Gafa 92nd 32.38 down, Brett Van Berkel 111th 40.26 down and Glenn Schoer 114th in same bunch as Brett VB. A great effort guys.

Club veteran Chris Joustra smashes them in Grafton to Inverell today. Joustra rode C grade in the great event he also took sprint king jersey. Chris was in a break 100kms to go, attacked the break 20kms from the finish going on to winning solo. Fantastic effort by Joustra and now will be the clubs protected rider getting the lead outs rather than leading others out. Well Joustra.

Jim Timmer-Arends, Australian Masters 5 Time Trail Champion at Ballarat. The course with a slight uphill gradient on the outbound leg, an 18.6kms round trip from the Arch of Victory to the village of Cardigan and return saw Timmer-Arends take the win by just over one second with six seconds separating the podium places. Jim's time 25:45:06 at an average of 43.3kph.

Entry numbers in high 30's for final 2011 Deca Series with racing moving to Hazelwood Pondage next Wednesday. The Deca Series will return in March 2012. This weeks winners were D grade David Hibbert (having first race), C grade Dean Gray (Must be just about ready for B grade), B grade went Wayne Collins and Sam Beveridge took out A grade. It was good to see Shannon McCurley racing and James Haylock has dusted off the bike and came racing. Full Results ..... Deca Points 11/12

A nasty crash in the final 300m of D grade puts paid to other grade's racing at Wednesday's criterium racing at Deca. Tony Hiriart and Greg Horbowicz came together both falling heavily and being Ambulanced to Hospital for a check up.  The accident called a holt on further racing with C grade being stopped.  A and B grades unable to start. Josh Eaton took the win and is now destined for C grade. Full Results for grade..... Deca Points 11/12

Beveridge, Aboltins, Gray & Veldman take the first points in season opener at Deca on Wednesday evening. Fairly good numbers in two of the four senior grades with 11 in  A & 12 in D grade and 7 in C grade. The B grade ranks were disappointing with only 3 entries and the juniors fielded only one. For full placing and points goto.....Deca Points 11/12

D grade tops the entries at Deca with 7 seniors and 5 juniors, next was A grade with 8 seniors and 1 junior,

winners were Josh Eaton (U/17) first race in D grade, C grade Dean ( I haven't done much) Gray, making it two from two. Hi Wayne hope this is of some interest to LCCC members about Jerome.

Pity it couldn’t be in a LCCC colours but it’s a fact of life he wouldn’t get the chance to compete if he was sadly.

Photo is from last weekend’s Vic State teams premiership  titles.

Jerome was the lead out man for the CCCC team number one that took the gold medal  in the 3 man Team sprint .

Jerome was pretty stoked to get a gold medal at last at this level.

The other 2 Lads are National Quality endurance based athletes,  but pretty dam quick over the short distances regardless.

Being the dedicated sprinter in the team Jerome  was the lead out rider charged with getting team off to an explosive start.

They headed the field after the heats covering the 3 laps in a 49.880,  Jerome’s first lap  split time was 19.494.

In the final they went to head to head against  the Blackburn team and recorded  a gold medal   win in a time of 50.003.

First lap  split time for Jerome at 19.657.

Blackburn were second with a time of 52.121.

Future

After a 3 month trial With Hilton Clarke and Karl Brewer  he has now been accepted into  the squad full time by Hilton .

So they will now begin to train Jerome for Under 19 gearing  &  competition from here on  and throughout the winter  of 2012.

Cheers Phil.
