ABOUT THE LATROBE CITY CYCLING CLUB
Races are conducted in and around the Latrobe Valley and within the Latrobe City boundaries on a weekly basis for members aged from 14ys upto masters 75+ with such races as Summer Criteriums and Road Races with some Criterium and more Road Racing in Autumn, Winter and Spring. The Club Track (Bob Whitford Cycling Track) is situated in Newborough on Old Sale Road (next to the indoor recreation centre) where racing is conducted every Monday evening commencing at 6.00pm during day light savings time.
Summer/Autumn Criterium and Road Racing is generally run on Wednesday evenings at Deca Driver Ed Centre, John Field Drive, Newborough. Hazelwood Pondage start at the Caravan Park, There are five grades, A, B, C, D & Junior U/15- U/17 which caters for all levels of ability and fitness. Racing commences at both venues at 6.00pm
Winter Road Racing April - June. Venues include, Yinnar circuits x2, Boolarra, Willow Grove and Traralgon South (Mountain Champs).
Spring Road Racing September - October is at various venues such as Yinnar (two circuits), Boolarra
The Club has a number Championship Races including Track x 3 (Sprint, Keirin & Scratch) Road Championships include Criterium, Mountain Climb, Road Race and IRTT.
The Mountain Climb Championship starts from Traralgon and ends at the summit of Mt Tassie. Road Race Championship is raced at Willow Grove or Yinnar and the IRTT Championship is raced at Yinnar or Hazelwood Pondage. The club also has a handicap classic run over 65kms, Morwell to Lake Glenmaggie (Weir Wall) in the Australian Spring Latrobe City Cycling Club is steep in history.
