AROUND THE BIG RING........

Saturday & Sunday July 24 & 25 at Victorian Junior Road Championships in Wangaratta saw Latrobe City CC female junior under 19 Shannon McCurley take double Gold. Shannon won the IRTT championship in the time of 24.36.46 on Saturday and the Road Race Championship on Sunday.

Sunday July 18 - Victorian Club Teams Time Trial Championships @ Diggers Rest saw Latrobe City CC strong men in the Masters 135+ absolutely kane the opposition by almost five minutes to bring home gold. The team whose total age was well in-excess of the required total of 135 yrs was made up by Chris Joustra, Dave Shanahan & Jim Timmer-Arends. The teams winning time was 1:07:07:00 just a tick over four & half minutes faster than the 2nd placed team from Brunswick with Caulfield Carnegie filling 3rd place. Well Done fellas

Sunday July 11 Gippsland IRTT  Championship @ Stratford - The LCCC brought home four medals with Jarrod Peachey winning the title in 39.07 for the 27kms race against the clock. Masters 4.5 & 6 (17kms) went to Jim Timmer-Arends 23.35  from Dave Shanahan 2nd in 23.50.

Men under 19 (17 kms) saw Adam Lancaster take Silver in 26.43. Full detail can be found at Wellington CC

Sunday July 11 Southern Veterans Cycling Club @ Cora-Lyn - Latrobe City CC members bring home some beacon. In A grade Chris Joustra finished 2nd, B grade saw Justin Gravett make it two from two with Colin Aitken finishing 3rd. E grade saw John Taylor and Tunksy and Southern Vets rider John Cox miss the start by several minutes finding themselves chasing to catch the bunch. The trio caught up about two kilometers from Modella, however the early chasing told on the trio as they faded in the closing stages with Taylor finishing 5th, Tunksy 9th.

Latrobe City CC members do well at Casey Fields (Cranbourne) Sunday July 4 with Southern Vets CC criterium. Ken Whittaker, Justin Gravett & Tunksy all ventured down with good results. Justin won the 60 minute B grade while Ken took 3rd in the 50 minute E grade race with Tunksy pulling out with one lap to go after chasing down (with the bunch in on his wheel) a couple of riders that were away for a several laps.
